Several years ago I found a lamp in the Restoration Hardware trash in the parking lot of the shopping mall. It was in great shape. The price tag was still on…$200! Huge score. They had cut the plug off, but that was an easy fix. Four years later it was in need of a new look.
This is a quick project that anyone can tackle!
- To attach the coffee bag to the lampshade I used 3M adhesive.
- Since the bag was a bit smaller than the lampshade there was a gap that needed to be covered.
- I wanted a “patched” look, so found a top piece that I liked and attached it.
- To add detail I trimmed the bottom with the frayed seam of the bag.
- Fold over the edges for a finished look.
- Rough up the lamp base with sandpaper to prep for the paint.
- I created a makeshift spray booth on my patio using an old sheet.
- The finished product!
- I loved the open hands, so made sure that was the front of the lampshade.
- There are matching patches on both sides of the lampshade.
- Back.
- Bottom edge detail.
